Principal’s Blog: Fall Has Arrived!

Fall has arrived in Howard. Leaves are beginning to change, and our staff and students have settled into good learning habits. There are many exciting opportunities this autumn to support student learning and to help bridge the gap between home and school.
  • Middle school parent day is 10/16. Each grade hosts a parent day which begins with a special Mass and parent social. The day continues with the opportunity for parents to shadow their students through morning classes, join them for lunch, and participate in recess.
  • Parent-teacher conferences are just two weeks away. Sign up information is in this week’s newsletter. At SJB we truly see education as a partnership between home and school. This is one of the best opportunities to dialog about learning with your student’s teacher.
  • The Parish and school are hosting a parenting conference on the morning of Saturday, 11/16. We titled the conference, Intentional Catholic Parenting Conference. There will be a keynote speaker talking about the challenge of prioritizing with raising children, there will be breakout sessions on parenting in the digital age, understanding anxiety and mental health, and other topics.
A huge round of thanks goes to Serena Magnuson and the 2019 Fall Harvest Festival Committee for making this year’s Fall Harvest Festival fantastic. Each year, the event seems to be reinvented and more fun than the prior year. One of the beautiful things about this event is that so many from outside the parish community attend. Thank you for celebrating with us.
