Principal’s Blog: Invite Him In

St. John the Baptist School exists to provide families a choice in education. A choice that is different, academically rich, and supported by a community. Most importantly, we exist to help children build a personal relationship with Jesus.

Below is an excerpt from a recent homily from Pope Francis, reminding us that Jesus wants to be personally involved with you and your family:

“It might make us more comfortable to have a God who stays in heaven without getting involved, while we can manage matters here on earth. Instead, God became man to enter into the concrete reality of this world… God became man – for me, for you, for all of us – to enter into our lives. And he is interested in every aspect of our life. We can tell him about what we are feeling, our work, our day, our sorrows, our anxieties – many things. We can tell him everything because Jesus wants this intimacy with us. Let us invite him into our home… Jesus will be at the table with us and we will be fed by a greater love.”

It is Now Time to Reengage

As we finish the school year in the next two weeks, we also look forward to a fresh start in the upcoming fall of 2021-22. Here at SJB, we enjoy having family get-togethers and other community events – unfortunately, we haven’t been able to do much of this. Many of us have grown accustomed to not being able to volunteer or visit the school.

Good News! Last night, at the Site Advisory Council meeting, we discussed new opportunities for people to get involved, and we planned some new community events that we will be holding next school year. We are looking for all types of people to come together to help achieve our fundraising goals; people with finance skills, decorators, organizers, cooks, doers, marketers, and even social butterflies.

When you are ready to reengage and would like to share your skills with us, please reach out to me or our SAC President, Eric. You’ll find some of these opportunities in the fundraising section below. I can’t wait to once again come together as a community and work together to create special experiences for our families!

Science, in Action!

Our fourth graders are loving their science unit on electric circuits! During a recent experiment, they built a circuit tester to discover if objects were conductors or insulators.

Kindergarten scientists have been working on a Magnificent Matter science unit through the Building for Kids in Appleton. Ms. Nelson’s class made polymer putty and learned that polymers are stretchy! Mrs. Konshak’s class learned about colloids and made Oobleck in a bag!
