My name is Megan Heinz. Previously I taught second grade and first grade for five years. I am now in my fourth year as our Reading Specialist! I love having the ability to share my faith and love of reading with students. I am married to my wonderful husband Jake. We have a one year old boy named Lucas. He keeps us very busy and we love it. He loves reading books, trains, trucks, and his kitties.

The best way to help your child become a better reader is to read a little bit every night, ask them to tell you what they were thinking about what they read, and lots of positive encouragement!

Grades K-1 have access to  See your teacher for username and password.  It allows you to read, listen to and be quizzed on just right books at your level.  It can help your teacher see how you are doing.

All grades can use Odyssey for practice in reading and math.  I highly encourage you to take advantage of this program.  GRACE and St. John’s have invested a lot in this program and is proven to show positive results when used on a regular basis.  This is aligned to your child’s MAP scores and works on areas that they may need help with, and also gives students opportunities for enrichment.
