ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST SCHOOL SITE ADVISORY COUNCIL
BY-LAWS

ARTICLE I: NAME

St. John the Baptist School Site Advisory Council

ARTICLE II: SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT

St. John the BaptistSchool provides an education that is centered in Jesus Christ and on the Gospel values through the intercession of St. John the Baptist.  Our school is dedicated to knowing our faith, teaching our faith, and living our faith, while creating an environment that maximizes learning in all academic areas.  Our students are provided with the necessary education to become faith-filled, independent, critical thinkers who are prepared to be active, responsible members of the Catholic Church and society.

ARTICLE III:  PURPOSE

The Site Advisory will serve as an important parent and parish member body for feedback and consultation for the St. John the Baptist School Principal, the GRACE system President and the GRACE Council of Trustees. The Site Advisory Council’s primary responsibility is to meet site-based fundraising requirements. All matters, activities and decisions will be aligned with St. John the BaptistSchool’s mission statement and vision.

SAC POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

President

A.   Serves a 1 (one) year term unless up to  3 (three) consecutive terms

B.   Implements/leads all directions of the Site Advisory Council.

C.  Liaison to the principal.

D.  Presides over meetings.

E.   Serves as Past-President, assisting with the transition to the new President through December of the school year following end of his/her term.

Vice President

A.   Serves a 1 (one) year term as Vice President. Assumes role of President in the event of the President’s inability to continue with the role during his/her term. Assumes role of President after the President’s term has expired.

B.   Assumes duties of President when President is unavailable.

C.  Liaison to Tuition Assistance and Stewardship Committee

Secretary

A.   Serves a 1 (one) year term. May be reelected up to 3 (three) consecutive terms.

B.   Records minutes at Site Advisory Council meetings

C.  Provides minutes to school secretary for distribution and for posting to the school website

D.  Emails minutes to the Site Advisory Council members

E.   Officers in this capacity may include Teachers

Treasurer

A.   Serves a 1 (one) year term. May be reelected up to 2 (two) consecutive terms.

B.   Oversees all deposits into and withdrawals from the fundraising account.

C.  Ensures all payments to GRACE are made on a timely basis.

D.  Oversees and reports to the Site Advisory Council on all fundraising accounts and Site Restricted Funds.

E.   Presents at each Site Advisory Council meeting, in writing, monthly and year-to-date summaries of all fundraising accounts and Site Restricted Funds.

F.   Serves as Past-Treasurer, assisting with the transition to the new Treasurer through December of the school year following end of his/her term.

Volunteer Coordinator

A.   Serves a 1 (one) year term. May be reelected up to 3 (three) consecutive terms.

B.   Assist in ensuring all volunteers are VIRTUS trained

C.   Assist even chairs with recruiting volunteers

Third Source Fundraising Chair

A.   Serves a 1 (one) year term. May be reelected up to 3 (three) consecutive terms.

B.   Liaison to Third Source Fundraising Committees

C.  Reports fundraising events and activity to the Site Advisory Council on an monthly basis.

D.  Liaison with GRACE fundraising efforts

E.  Leads the Financial Development Sub-committee, which is responsible for the tactical execution of St. John the Baptist School’s financial strategies and overseeing fundraising activities.

Marketing/Technology Coordinator

A.   Serves a 1 (one) year term. May be reelected up to 3 (three) consecutive terms)

B.   Liaison to GRACE Marketing Committee

C.  Leads a Marketing/Technology Sub-committee responsible for streamlining the image of St. John the Baptist School to the community. This sub-committee creates consistency in communication to parents, students and the community. They are responsible for the tactical execution of St. John the Baptist School’s marketing plan.
